Founding partner J. Toscano is an experienced media strategist whose communication strategies tiptoe outside traditional bounds to engage increasingly skeptical audiences across digital and traditional media platforms. His creative-forward ads express the authentic voices of the candidates he is helping to elect, and tap into emotions that cause target audiences to think or behave differently about key issues. His work with Filmmaking Labs explores ways to bring meaning-based storytelling into political communications.
He's helped elect officeholders at all levels, including Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA07), Rep. Steven Horsford (NV04), Rep. Kim Schrier (WA08), Rep. Donna Edwards (MD04), Gov. Jim Doyle (WI), Sen. Max Baucus (MT), Sen. Byron Dorgan (ND).
His IE work has helped elect and re-elect Reps. Elaine Luria (VA02), Abigail Spanberger (VA05), Elissa Slotkin (MI08) and Conor Lamb (PA17) on behalf of VoteVets; Reps. Scott Peters and Raul Ruiz (CA) on behalf of DCCC-IE; Senators Catherine Cortez-Masto (NV) and Martin Heinrich (NM) on behalf of League of Conservation Voters, Sen. Gary Peters (MI) on behalf of NextGen Climate Action.
J.'s innovative digital acquisition and persuasion campaigns with VoteVets in 2020 helped raise funds for House IE campaigns, build the organizations list of supporters, and helped move a targeted slice of military voters and veterans away from Donald Trump.
He has spearheaded energy efficiency campaigns for New York State, created award-winning integrated campaigns for the American Lung Association, and managed branding and communications for the successful global bid to host the International Renewable Energy Agency in the world's first carbon-free city -- Masdar City, in Abu Dhabi UAE.
J. got his start in politics as Communications Director for the U.S. House Democratic Caucus under now-Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, served as a presidential appointee as public affairs director for AmeriCorps, and helped build the largest political media firm in Democratic politics before founding the most creative firm in Democratic politics.
